You Saved the Day

Yesterday, while attending the Texas Rangers ball game with my good friend, Pete Sanchez, I also got the opportunity to personally listen as Josh Hamilton shared his story with thousands of fans who gathered for a pre-game concert by Casting Crowns. Up until this moment I had only read his story and shared it in a sermon, but to meet the man behind the words was an amazing experience. While watching the game that followed the concert I took note of the songs that were played as the batters walked into the box to prepare to meet a 98 m.p.h. fastball head-on. While other players were more noted on the secular charts, Josh's two songs were from the Christian charts and yet just another way that God has placed him exactly where He wants him to be. Please take a moment to watch the video link above and ask yourself the question, what song would you choose to introduce you into the arena of thousands...Way to Go Josh Hamilton!

F.A.I.T.H.

While on the road today, I had the privilege of listening to a great message on Faith by the late Dr. Adrian Rogers. He defines faith as Forsaking All I'll Trust Him! When he spoke these very words I began to reflect over the past few weeks of our life as a family and realized just how good and faithful God has been to us. As many of you know, I recently resigned my position as Senior Pastor of Grace Bible Fellowship in Gunter and am currently employed at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. God has blessed Gina, the kids and me so much and so often over the last few days I cannot even begin to list them individually. I am so thankful for a job that I truly feel God opened the door to and to work for a family who truly does put others first. I have probably prayed, cried and pleaded with God more in the past five weeks than ever before in my life and to this day He is still proving Himself faithful. I pray that as our children grow older and someone asks them to share a life lesson taught them by Mom and Dad, that it would simply be that we truly put God first in our lives and trusted in Him completely even when we did not know what tomorrow held. Thank You God for Your love and patience with me and may I continue to grow into the man You desire me to be.
